Amazon AppStream 2.0, launched in 2016 by Amazon, is a secure application streaming service. It makes desktop applications available from their Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud system. This service meets the needs of customers who are now able to access their applications from anywhere. As of July 2017, Amazon AppStream 2.0 is evolving and now allows you to access to design and engineering applications requiring GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) acceleration. ORINOX facilitates the transition to the industry 4.0 by supporting the digital asset journey. ORINOX performs a technology watch in order to be the first to integrate new technologies for our clients as technology integrator for AVEVA clients.
Amazon AppStream 2.0, launched in 2016 by Amazon, is a secure application streaming service. It makes desktop applications available from their Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud system. This service meets the needs of customers who are now able to access their applications from anywhere.
These same customers are facing different problems: they have to keep different versions of the desktop applications, and take steps to secure the data, but also adapt the software for a native execution on the browsers.
Amazon AppStream 2.0 therefore provides its users browser-based applications in native mode without the need to rewrite them and accessible at any time. Applications run on Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources, making it very easy to use, just like a local desktop, while ensuring data security.
As of July 2017, Amazon AppStream 2.0 is evolving and now allows you to access to design and engineering applications requiring GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) acceleration. It is therefore possible to launch 3D graphics applications at the same time as the visualization in pre and post visualization from AWS.
In addition, this system allows the user to run 3D engineering software from a basic computer, thus saving on expensive workstations.
ORINOX currently offers a possibility to host a complete Aveva Integrated Engineering and Design project in the Cloud. This solution is called OCWS. When using the many specialized products within this suite, AVEVA customers need to invest in different specialist project administrators when creating a digital asset. ORINOX staff can instead perform this administration task for you from our back office and thus reduce your investment in expensive admins. This also dramatically reduces the time to set-up a new project. Try OCWS with your own data at https://ocws.orinox.com.
Amazon AppStream has worked with AVEVA for the beta. For their large projects, AVEVA customers need to bring together different specialist engineers when creating a digital asset. AVEVA therefore develops SaaS (software as a service) to meet the demand of its customers. They can access AVEVA shared work instances anywhere on the globe.
New instances developed with Amazon AppStream and AVEVA maximize quality and performance.

When AVEVA SaaS will be available with Appstreams 2.0, ORINOX will launch a new OCWS version with this technology integrated in it.
